ONE CHANCE

So it was in the season of “one chance” I took a cab. After normal negotiations, we agreed on price. Quickly dumped myself onto the front seat, as I was itching to get out of the scorching sun!
Although I had my sunglasses on, the sun was capable of roasting a whole human being to ashes!
As I was trying to fix my seat belt, I greeted;
- “Oga good afternoon o”.
And he too responded
- “Good afternoon madam’.
But instead of beginning the journey, this man was just staring at me... I paused myself to stare at the ‘starer’. So to break the silence I asked: “Oga Watin happen na”?
Then he smiled, cleared his throat and adjusted himself; he looked uncomfortable, then he answered with an undertone of mild humor.
- Eh..eh... Madam nor vex o, this one wey you cover your face like this so, I kon dey fear o; Before you go kon bring out gun ‘bell up’ me or kon kidnap me’.
I couldn’t hold it in, I burst out in laughter. lol

But he continued :
...”Yes o, because me I dey fear o! You know say we don hear plenty things wey Dey happen for the town na, and you cover your face with this kind glass so!
I was still laughing when I responded to him:
-“Oga, me and you, who suppose to dey fear”? “Na me suppose to dey talk like this sef, cos na you be the driver na”. So I removed my thick dark shades so he can see my eyeballs... lol!
We both laughed at our conversation, and then I saw him breathe in some air and became more comfortable. We conversed and laughed together throughout the rest of journey.
**************** ****************
Lately I’ve been hearing stories of victims of “one chance”, kidnapping, killings etc...
But I know God will never allow me have any of such terrible experiences. Nonetheless, caution must be taken!
A friend of mine would always advise me to sit at the back of the car, whenever I take an Uber, Taxify (Bolt) or a random taxi. I didn’t bother to ask why, but recently I did, and these were his submissions:
Oops...
Look out for my next post!
