#HAMPER

As teens running around the neighborhood, we paid respect to this man and his family. When they drove past in their cars, it is only respect-worthy that we greet with an exciting "MIGWOR" which triggers a corresponding response "VRENDO".

We shared the same neighborhood and whenever it was Christmas season, he'd go bulk shopping, buy groceries, wines, provisions and hampers of various sizes.
Loyal kids are the ones who obediently run errands for their elders and we were seen as such. So having done his shopping, he’ll be needing these 'Loyal kids' to come do some work for him, hence he calls us over, leaving his 'Àjeh' children totally out of the job. No wahala sha!

What exactly does he need us for? Package gifts in hampers.
So we start by picking different collections of item ranging from bottles of luxury wines, packs of cornflakes, sugar, spaghetti, cans of milk & sardines, souvenirs etc..  and arranging them in different sizes of hamper, each hamper is generously stuffed with a collection of all the aforementioned items.

We continue with the process till we have succeeded in filling all the baskets about 30 of them, design them with flowers and wrapping sheets and thereafter he instructs us to line them up in a separate room in his house. These items are meant to be distributed as souvenir or compliments for the close of the year to his fellow class of 'BIG MEN', the "Creme de Là Creme" of the society, friends, those who gave him contracts, clients and those whom he expects are capable of reciprocating his gifts with something huge or 'Huger' lol. After all, the Bible says "A man's gifts maketh way for him"🤷

This is his annual systematic way of sustaining their relationship.
The painful part is that after all our devotion in packing these gift items with excitement and hope dat at least something go fall, this man will just look at us and say "Una Dooh!" "Oya make una go play" 😠 Not even a can of sardine for all the hardwork we've done, empty-handed we came, empty-handed we left. More painfully we left used, hungrier and exhausted🤦
This same man who will appear generous before his caliber of friends, lives in a neighborhood with people who can't even remember when last they had something that resembles TEA, kids running around with only TORN PANTS as their dress, children who stay home because their parents cannot afford school.
He drives past all these necessities and plays oblivious of them, Yet he's tagged the CHEERFUL GIVER! SMH

The advent of this celebration CHRISTMAS draws my attention to so many PAPARAZZI taking the place of GENUINE KINDNESS. The latter is what Christmas is about.

Get it right!
