FACT ABOUT BUSOLA DAKOLO AND PASTOR BIODUN FATOYINBO RAPE SAGA

There’s been so much fuss about the “Busola Dakolo’ Rape Saga, & Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA church. So many comments, criticisms and “StandingWiths” already.  

Therefore, this post is channeled to another direction, one which perhaps you may not have considered. 

First of all, lemme take my own 'stand' here… IStandAgainstRape! 

Now qiuckly, Busola’s rape case is one of the million of rape cases which have happened in Nigeria, but fortunately it happens to be the one that has stood out. Ask me why? 

Now see, of all the many rape cases, Busola’s voice is being heard because she is ‘Somebody’ and again, married to someone who is already a ‘SOMEBODY’ - Timi Dakolo. (As a matter of fact, I never even knew his wife until this rape outburst). 

Busola was able to get support and people to vouch for her because she already has a voice and a secured placement in the society. There are so many rape cases which have been long 

buried and will be forever forgotten. Just imagine a university student or an unknown lady coming out on social media to call out a handsome, wealthy pastor who runs a thriving and bubbling church and she says: “He raped me”. 

Even if she was found in blood or shedding tears during the interview, the ensuing statements would not be any other than: 

-She’s simply looking for attention, 

-She’s just a poor girl who needs money, 

-She wants to drag down the pastor’s image,  

-She’s a devils incarnate, 

-Someone has paid her to do this, 

-She’s simply a temptation... 

-She has tried to sleep with the pastor but did not succeed. 

-What was she doing with the pastor alone? 

These and many more comments would have been the response of many of us who are ‘StandingWith’ Busola today. 

But because it is Busola,  

Because Busola is not just ‘any’ lady,  

Because Busola does not have any reason to be seeking unnecessary attention on social media (Of course she’s already popular because of her husband - Timi Dakolo - A well known Musician). 

Because Busola is aware of the stigma but still chose to speak up, 

Because Busola is a prestigous married woman, 

Because Busola has no reason to want to drag a pastor’s image to the mud,

Because Busola is too loaded to be paid by someone to rubbish a pastor’s reputation...

Because of all these “BECAUSES”, We all dare to stand with her. How about the ones who have no voice, no reputation or prestige, who stands with them?  How about the ones who are rape victims everyday, because the rapist puts their life to threat, hence they die in silence and remain victims for the rest of their lives? Who will vouch for them? 

Busola was able to get celebrities in the likes of Banky W and his wife, Funke Akindele, Davido et al, who stood with her 

and even offered to support her finacially so she can pursue a court case, simply because she’s one of them - A celebrity. 

Christian Association of Nigeria - CAN responded to her case simply because Busola is not just ‘any’ lady who will call out a pastor. 

Women support are going to the extent of petitioning pastor Biodun to be banned by the U.S embassy from travelling out. 

Huge crowd turned out with placards at the COZA Church on a Sunday to riot simply because they are against rape.

Big names are tweeting and sharing their opinion about the whole matter, and bloggers are there to pick up and update us with any gad-damn comment as it concerns the matter, whether reasonable or unreasonable. 

All these enormous love and support, only because she’s not just any lady, but a lady with a NAME. 

She is ‘Somebody’, at the same time she is “Somebody’s” wife. 

A lady with prestige, one who is loaded.  

People can even swear with their lives on her behalf, some have even blocked or stopped talking to some of their contacts who refused to support her story. 

My brothers and sisters, in all these, I learned a lesson, my motivation just got triggered - a moral lesson; and I’ll share it in block letters: 

My sister, HUSTLE O, so that in the days of your grief you will find people who can vouch for you. People who can fight, and are ready to die for you, simply because of your prestige and personality.  

STRUGGLE to gain ground and get a NAME for yourself especially as a lady because sometimes, our voices are left unheard.  

If you cannot make a name, marry someone who has one! 

In a nutshell, BE A SUCCESSFUL LADY!!! 

So that you will have people who will at least believe your story.
