CHEF OH CHEF!

Image
So apart from “Writing”, another right thing I find interest in is “ COOKING ”.   And this feat got more interesting during my service year, as I explored various aspects of “Pot” and “Fire”.  Cooking for yourself and cooking for a crowd are two different adventures. My stay in the family house (National Association of Catholic Corpers, NACC lodge) during my service really gave me an opportunity to explore that feminine department called the ‘kitchen’. I find it often enjoyable when I’m scheduled for kitchen duty, coupled with the fact that I worked partly in a catering institution and my PPA which happens to be a hotel where I sometimes had to switch over to the kitchen if need be, but then this matter nor be child’s. Twas an Herculean task but a “ Chestable ” one . The stress was always double when Corpers were newly brought from camp, cooking becomes more interesting and crazy cos we cook for like 60 person with firewood. You go pick beans, com peel ...

WOMAN

Image
Of all God’s creatures, it was only the WOMAN that was created from another creature. In other words, the woman was created not from a raw material but from a finished product. Although the woman was created last, this doesn’t mean that she comes last in all things. Just like in cake baking, the icing comes last not because it is the least, but because it is meant to bring out the beauty and the wonder of the cake! Before God created woman, the world was ice-less, that is, the world was without form and beauty. Not even the fish, the beast of the field nor the birds of the air could fill the gap, until God made fondant with the part of the created man. Hence as a woman, you must know your place, don’t be second placed, rather know your self worth. You are not made the kitchen or the other room, you too can achieve whatever you wanna to achieve! Looking at the world today, you’ll discover that women are becoming more of the breadwinners than men; Go to the ma...

DAY IN THE NIGHT

Image
Night turned day in Calabar as we savored every minute of the carnival till the last bone. I nor gree go house, as I made sure that I saw every band, their presentation and costumes which was lit. As at 1.am I was still walking, following the huge crowds of people from all walks of life trekking on the road like the people of Israel heading the promise land. Sleep departed for a while but trust me, as a 10 O’clock sleeper that I am, I couldn’t hold back for long. I Dey do ‘Strong head’, Dey from ‘Agbakara’, remain small I for land for inside gutter duuuuuuum  as I began sleeping-walking and reeling like Clint De Drunk but thank Jah for my buddy who stood beside me John Edom, he held my hand like a baby and led me to the path of “Right-teousness” while I sleep-walked. I saw kids running around and doing the Jerusalem trekking too, women and men and babes of my age still catching the midnight fun and the whole electrifying exuberance. I just couldn’t accept the fact that I...

MY FIRST STREET CARNIVAL

Image
Carnival took place in the Main Street of the roadway in Calabar...Little wonder its tagged “Calabar Street Carnival”.  The first group of people I saw on the carnival ground was the FARMERS BAND dressed in local materials, shabbily designed with cuts made by scissors plus Fulani hats to shield their heads from the scorching sun. They also depicted their band with unique artistic sculptures.  Another amazing band with a super duper sculpture was MASTA BLAST, these group made great sculptures which I lack words to depict right now. I swear you have no idea, they made a moving train, firewood, and so many thrilling art designs too complex to describe.  Each band had a tall and beautiful king a nd queen dancing in front leading the band. Bunch of carefully selected well packaged Godgifted ladies in each band, like rose flowers with a touch of hibiscuses so colorful like mami water.  They all dance along the road as they express their various dance ...

IN MY SHOES

Image
Your current situation has a very intelligent way of influencing you. If you’re in a very critical condition, prolly sick or hoping for something, the people and the surrounding you keep finding yourself can either make you get better or worse! Okay lemme explain... I had a very terrible experience years ago when I suffered from swollen legs, dunno what happened, my legs were swelling,  took drugs and stuff but seemed futile. Anytime I went out, the class of people I saw were people whose legs were amputated, crawling, or crippled and this sent a negative message to my mind. I was like ‘O God, so this is how I’m gonna loose my legs” ?I said to myself ‘I AM FINISHED’! No Hope!t This feeling almost crippled my mind cos it kept recurring, even in the market, I saw them everywhere. Twas like the devil’s tactics to paralyze my mindset negatively. But I devised a technic to overcome them such that whenever those thoughts came, or whenever I saw people with critical situatio...

Image
Miss Africa 2018 Dorcas Dienda Episode 4. Hmmm, what we did was ludicrous but that was the only option we had. Lucy and I had to share the chair, we sat with half part of our ass. Lol. Fine girls like us. People would sure be staring but watin concern us ,  we just lock up dey do our thing jare. We turned and laughed at ourselves on several occasions and even took selfies and more pictures. Twas really laughable. Lol Las Las sha, a fine nice guy forfeited his seat for us, and then we sat more comfortably, only that we didn't get to watch HANTY Tiwa's performance. *Sad* The show went on as the contestants from different countries stepped out in different attires depicting Africanism... See beautiful slim bullets ...pretty slim tall shawty looking like INEC... repping different African countries. Big Brother's Ebuka was the moderator as well as several international guests and other celebs who occupied the judiciary.  Our Nigerian contestant Chia...
