Dignity Has No Gender!

There’s a leaked sex tape of a male Nigerian artist—Oxlade—trending online. And I’ve been seeing people cruising about it on so Social media—people calling him a “Spider-man” and praising him for his “skills”.

No body is saying how disgusting his attitude is, no one is saying how disappointed they are in him; and how he has no “dignity”.

I remember some time last year, when a leaked sex tape of the female Nigerian artist, Tiwa Savage, surfaced. I recall how she were called out and massively shamed for that (a sex tape that was probably used as a blackmail). But in Oxlade’s case, people are catching cruise and trivializing it. He will not lose any endorsement, as a matter of fact, his songs will probably trend more. 

This tells you how society has normalized IRRESPONSIBILITY in men/boys, and this is really disheartening.

Mind you, the point here is not for “irresponsibility” to be normalized in both genders, but rather, for the same level of self-worth and “dignity” be demanded of both male and female.

If something is categorized as “shameful” it means that it remains shameful whether it was done by a man or a woman. 


Dignity has no gender!

  Something horrible happened to me recently. Turns out it is one of my 2021 highlights  Quite a lengthy read tho... I was all packed to leave for Brighton from London. Had one piece of luggage and a backpack, with my purse hanging in front of me.  Got on the bus, then on a train and then landed at the National rail station to board to Brighton. It would take 8mins for the train to arrive so I sat on a waiting chair where a young man was already seated, greeted him with a smile and sat beside him, with my backpack on the middle seat separating us.  Train arrived and I jumped on it, sat on a seat beside the toilet but decided to move to another cos of how close it was to the toilet. IGNORANCE...

    My hand luggage and backpack were meticulously packed for the journey, and since they were pretty portable, I decided to keep them with me instead of getting them checked in.   On arrival at security checks, I was asked to declare all my liquids, and with a clean conscience, I brought out all my deodorants, perfumes, body lotion, liquid soap, toothpaste, makeup foundation, etc... It took me by surprise when, at once, the immigration officer gathered together all the above items (excluding one of the smallest bottles of my perfume) and said to me: “we’ll have to trash these”. 😳 You said…? I asked him like I didn’t hear him quite well the first time. And he firmly repeated himself: “We’ll have to put these ones in the bin”, he paraphrased. At that point, I was like “trash”? “Bin”? “Keep an eye on her”...

  I did something today that I’m really proud of, even though I ended up breaking down in tears after — Calling out racism! I’ve met lovely people across all races since I moved to the UK. I’ve had very pleasant and memorable experiences. But I’ve also encountered people who left me with unpalatable experiences. One very repetitive disgusting experience is RACISM!  I don’t care how covert it is, it is evident and it absolutely disgusting! So today I discovered a massive mall not very far from me and I went on a tour. It is called Exchange mall located in Illford East London!  One of the shops I visited was TK Maxx , I looked around a bit as I window shopped, and on my way out as I approached the exit door, I saw a security staff dutifully positioned there.  I clearly heard one of his colleagues giving him an instruction through his walkie-talkie phone. Tips for Finding an Apartment in the UK

Looking for an apartment in London is like looking for a life partner. Very similar characteristics: You’ll see the one with a good location: proximity to market, bus station, etc, but has a tiny tiny room.  🤦🏻‍♀️   If you eventually find one of good size, the rent price will be enough to buy land in your home country!  If you say you should go for a shared apartment to save cost, you will see the one with too many flatmates (4-7 people under one roof)! With a high tendency of noise and discord! And I don’t recommend this if you’re a student!  You will also see the one that has only one bathroom (with like 7 Flatmates sharing it), and you’ll literally have to queue to shower! You will also find houses where flatmates have pets—pets that’ll be sharing the kitchen with you  😥 . And if you’re someone like me who has a phobia for animals, you’re finished! World Book Day!

The UK has a very contagious reading culture. The habit of reading is something I find very fascinating, being a book lover myself! In the UK, you’ll find people reading books on the bus, train, plane, in the park, on the streets, and even while walking on the road (which is unsafe btw) lol. They not only read books, but they also read and leave for others to read. You could be walking around a neighborhood and find books lying outside someone’s house with the caption “they’re free, help yourself”. They go roaming the assembly ground digging their fingers into the depths of our hair, as a matter of fact if your hair passes a certain level, be sure to have a free shave all the way.  Supposing the 'free shave' was a decent one, wahala for nor dey, but the opposite was the case. Different Gospels

  When you move abroad you’ll notice a difference in preaching styles. The gospel you’ll hear from Nigerian preachers is absolutely different from abroad gospel. While many Nigerian preachers focus more on  tithing and prosperity, - Breaking generational curses, - Casting out poverty, - Binding demons, - Praying for jobs, husbands,  - Praying against accidents etc The preachers abroad focus more on building righteousness: - Their gospels are less about wealth, or tithes, or poverty, - They preach about building a relationship with God - About how to be righteous, - About Charity, and helping others - About loving one another, etc Although different, these two types of gospel are valid and essential in their own way. But the former is influenced mostly by bad governance, which is what we suffer in Nigeria. So I’ve always wanted to model, to be on a billboard, do fashion, makeup, or something. It’s a passion I had low-key. Not because of the cliched assumption that “every tall slim girl should be a model”, but because I loved myself so much, and wished to put myself out there.   This pushed me to apply to many modeling agencies back in Nigeria. I applied left, right and center, but with no luck. Though I had reservations. And my reservations were that I didn’t fancy bikini modeling or pageantry. I knew what I wanted, so I just kept pitching and reaching out to loads and loads of agencies, but without any success.   So one day, I found an advert on a billboard, by a modeling agency calling for models. Proudest thing ever!

  One of the proudest things I’ve done in my life is resigning from a toxic work environment. I once worked with this Start-up organization, where the CEO was a real bossy boss.  He was walking in his “CEO shoes” every day of his life, he was so obsessed with achieving his dream for his org that he cared less about his employees!  We would use our personal emails and our personal mobile number to reach out to clients.  I remember suggesting that a work phone should be provided for me because the clients were beginning to encroach on my personal space, but I was told off and tagged a complainer.
