Some people's reactions to compliments is rather awkward. Tell some people; "Your hair is fine o" and they be like "this my cheap weavon so, am just managing it jare "
Your shoe is beautiful : "This my shoe wey don reach 10yrs so"
Your makeup looks good; Hmm, am stee learning o, am not perfect yet.
Your dress is fine o; This my dress wey don old so, Abegy
Was helping a lady undo her weavon and I said to her "Babe your weavon is fine o" and she was like "Dis my weavon Don reach 5yrs o".
And they end up making you look silly for giving them such a compliment probably cos they want your compliments to be reiterated or be stressed upon.
Such pessimistic response to compliments doesn't make you appear humble rather it shows how much you don't believe in yourself, it depicts inferiority and classlessness.
It means you don't even love yourself.
See, even if na "Okrika" you wear, wear it with pride and dignity. It is the confidence you impose on the dress that people see and not the dress itself.
Someone says you look good, Smile back at him/her and respond "THANK YOU" whether you think he means it or not
It is how much finesse you've got that matters. Love yourself first, it is that love that attracts it's kind. 
It is not what you wear, it is how you wear it!

SUCKING

When I first saw them sucking, so many thoughts ran through my mind; I couldn’t help but wonder what manner of food that could be. Although I was very young, I could still replay the look on their faces whenever they sucked. I’m referring to the 'Calabar' neighbor we had, whose kitchen was marked by the unique redolence. The aroma alone does a public announcement that they are “Calabarians”. I dunno if you’ve tried this sucking before; but my first time was with Afang soup. Afang soup makes no sense without  “suckables” in it. Omg...I lack words to describe By now you’re wondering what exactly this thing is ... “Mfi”, as it is locally called, is simply unshelled periwinkles. Equality means that everyone should have equal amount of everything. But there is another word that I think is way bigger than equality, and that is equity . Equity doesn’t means that everybody should have equal amounts of everything but rather,    equity means that people should have the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome—and in certain situations this means that some people should have more, while some should have less, not because they are considered less humans or less capable, but because it is fair to do so.  Equity means having a balanced distribution of opportunities! MISSING

  Something horrible happened to me recently. Turns out it is one of my 2021 highlights  Quite a lengthy read tho... I was all packed to leave for Brighton from London. Had one piece of luggage and a backpack, with my purse hanging in front of me.  Got on the bus, then on a train and then landed at the National rail station to board to Brighton. It would take 8mins for the train to arrive so I sat on a waiting chair where a young man was already seated, greeted him with a smile and sat beside him, with my backpack on the middle seat separating us.  Train arrived and I jumped on it, sat on a seat beside the toilet but decided to move to another cos of how close it was to the toilet. My earphones were plugged in throughout most of the journey. One & half hours into the journey we arrived at Brighton and people were already stood up waiting to alight, I noticed my backpack was missing.😳🤯 Scurried over and under my seat, see if it was there, but no, it wasn’t. I want to stress the need for volunteering. Volunteering means offering your skills, time, and resource to the benefit of other organizations or to someone else, without having an interest in being paid. I know that the term volunteering may sound synonymous with “ OSHOFREE ” for some people, especially Nigerians. It’s not your fault. For an economy where people struggle for survival, people will definitely eschew anything that doesn’t put money on their table. But regardless, the importance of volunteering cannot be overemphasized.  Volunteering gives you the opportunity to render service, and at the same time develop your skills. “MESSY” JOURNEY

He told the driver to stop and he bought, He invited me to join him, but I gave him the conventional response; 'No Thanks'. He ate it one after the other and took a pause after every finger. What was he eating? Banana and Sprite. What a combo! After a while he released a terrific smell that is capable of terminating the life of a newborn. Shezuuuuus! I nor fit complain. I just kept my nose by the window of the car, as if to seem like I was meditating on the trees that we drove past. I gasped for air! Making Hair Abroad

Often times when you see people overseas carrying ‘ dada ’ (dreadlocks), it’s not swag o; it’s often because of the cost of making their hair every now and then. If you consider the cost of making your hair in the UK, you’d rather cut it or grow dreadlocks. In this country, people don’t change hairstyles randomly, especially African ladies, because we’re high maintenance. That’s why you see many ladies have different versions of WigCaps. I see a lot of Africans, including school children, carry their braids even though it is due for a change or has developed so much undergrowth (which often tells you how long the hair has stayed for). 😂 In fact, the first time I made my hair here, I undid it after 3weeks (cos I felt it was due for a change) and went back to have it remade,  but I was surprised by the lady’s reaction when she realized I had undone the hair she made ‘just’ three weeks ago.
