As I clock a significant age in my life, I thought to share some random 27 facts about me. Well, I think it’s more than 27. Have a read.

  • A bit of an emotional person
  • Got a sweet tooth
  • Can be both stern and loving
  • Mostly withdrawn 
  • Very adventurous
  • Quite sensitive

  • Not a huge fan of having a cold bath
  • Keep stuff a lot... (still got my result from Kg2).

MISSING

  Something horrible happened to me recently. Turns out it is one of my 2021 highlights  Quite a lengthy read tho... I was all packed to leave for Brighton from London. Had one piece of luggage and a backpack, with my purse hanging in front of me.  Got on the bus, then on a train and then landed at the National rail station to board to Brighton. It would take 8mins for the train to arrive so I sat on a waiting chair where a young man was already seated, greeted him with a smile and sat beside him, with my backpack on the middle seat separating us.  Train arrived and I jumped on it, sat on a seat beside the toilet but decided to move to another cos of how close it was to the toilet. My earphones were plugged in throughout most of the journey. One & half hours into the journey we arrived at Brighton and people were already stood up waiting to alight, I noticed my backpack was missing.😳🤯 Scurried over and under my seat, see if it was there, but no, it wasn’t. VOLUNTEERING

I want to stress the need for volunteering. Volunteering means offering your skills, time, and resource to the benefit of other organizations or to someone else, without having an interest in being paid. I know that the term volunteering may sound synonymous with “ OSHOFREE ” for some people, especially Nigerians. It’s not your fault. For an economy where people struggle for survival, people will definitely eschew anything that doesn’t put money on their table. But regardless, the importance of volunteering cannot be overemphasized.  Volunteering gives you the opportunity to render service, and at the same time develop your skills.   There is nothing prestigious about marrying many wives. It has not and will never be the ideal! It is considered “traditional” to marry more than one wife, but sometimes when we choose to applaud tradition, we should also look at the context in which those traditions were made—some of which have evolved over time, and some that still definitely need to evolve. Some of these contexts include: Back in the days, women were not seen as “co-human beings” but as mere commodities! Collapsed Lady

On my way to work today, a pregnant lady collapsed and passed out right in front of me. It was on the Overground train.  She had gotten to her stop at Blackhorse road and was just about to alight. And suddenly she slowly collapsed on her back, landing on the floor inside the train.  I was already in panic mode, and the Nigerian in me was quickly gonna grab her as I saw her fall, to prevent her from falling to the floor and possibly hitting her head, but I was surprised to see the other passengers standing and watching her collapse, without doing anything. (This is quite a British attitude anyway. They’ll watch you fall and then ask you “are you okay”? Lol) Part of me felt I might be doing the wrong thing by grabbing her since many others weren’t attempting to do the same, so I held on a bit. SUCKING

When I first saw them sucking, so many thoughts ran through my mind; I couldn’t help but wonder what manner of food that could be. Although I was very young, I could still replay the look on their faces whenever they sucked. I’m referring to the 'Calabar' neighbor we had, whose kitchen was marked by the unique redolence. The aroma alone does a public announcement that they are “Calabarians”. I dunno if you’ve tried this sucking before; but my first time was with Afang soup. Afang soup makes no sense without  “suckables” in it. Omg...I lack words to describe By now you’re wondering what exactly this thing is ... “Mfi”, as it is locally called, is simply unshelled periwinkles. It is mostly eaten by Cross Riverians and Akwa Ibomites; and it is characterized by so much sand content. You can tell when someone is cooking with “Mfi” during the washing... Proudest thing ever!

  One of the proudest things I’ve done in my life is resigning from a toxic work environment. I once worked with this Start-up organization, where the CEO was a real bossy boss.  He was walking in his “CEO shoes” every day of his life, he was so obsessed with achieving his dream for his org that he cared less about his employees!  We would use our personal emails and our personal mobile number to reach out to clients.  I remember suggesting that a work phone should be provided for me because the clients were beginning to encroach on my personal space, but I was told off and tagged a complainer. In so many ways we were going out of our way to help him achieve his goals for his organization, yet these sacrifices meant nothing to him.  He kept demanding more.  He’d give us tasks that encroached into our weekends even though working weekends wasn’t part of our employment contract, and when we fell short of delivery he’d scold us so harshly, making us feel like ...

Equality vs Equity - IWD

Equality means that everyone should have equal amount of everything. But there is another word that I think is way bigger than equality, and that is equity . Equity doesn’t means that everybody should have equal amounts of everything but rather,    equity means that people should have the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome—and in certain situations this means that some people should have more, while some should have less, not because they are considered less humans or less capable, but because it is fair to do so.  Equity means having a balanced distribution of opportunities! And this has been the demands of women from various parts of the world. And equity, for me, means fairness! Because even in equality there can be unfairness, but in equity there’s fairness!
