CORPERS' DOCUMENTS BURN TO ASHES AS SOKOTO NYSC ORIENTATION CAMP GUTS FIRE!

The corps members in Wamahka, Sokoto camp were left despair on Thursday 4th, April 2019, as their hostel in the orientation camp caught fire which resulted in the loss of most of their important documents including their certificates, and other relevant items.

Now, the question is, how can these lost documents be retrieved? Who will pay for the compensation and stress to retrieve them? and How much compensation will suffice?

  Something horrible happened to me recently. Turns out it is one of my 2021 highlights  Quite a lengthy read tho... I was all packed to leave for Brighton from London. Had one piece of luggage and a backpack, with my purse hanging in front of me.  Got on the bus, then on a train and then landed at the National rail station to board to Brighton. It would take 8mins for the train to arrive so I sat on a waiting chair where a young man was already seated, greeted him with a smile and sat beside him, with my backpack on the middle seat separating us.  Train arrived and I jumped on it, sat on a seat beside the toilet but decided to move to another cos of how close it was to the toilet. Tips for Finding an Apartment in the UK

Looking for an apartment in London is like looking for a life partner. Very similar characteristics: You’ll see the one with a good location: proximity to market, bus station, etc, but has a tiny tiny room.  🤦🏻‍♀️   If you eventually find one of good size, the rent price will be enough to buy land in your home country!  If you say you should go for a shared apartment to save cost, you will see the one with too many flatmates (4-7 people under one roof)! With a high tendency of noise and discord! And I don’t recommend this if you’re a student!  You will also see the one that has only one bathroom (with like 7 Flatmates sharing it), and you’ll literally have to queue to shower! The just-completed Global Reporting Summit organized by One World Media  on 12.20.21 with the Theme: “Who Gets to Tell The Story ?” was one of the most brilliant conferences I’ve attended this year, bringing key global issues to the table.   It was my first time meeting and listening to Moky Makura a Middle East Contributor and CEO of Africa No Filter . Homelessness in the UK...?

One of the culture shocks I experienced when I arrived in the United Kingdom is seeing homeless people sleeping on the streets; people who had no place to live, people who slept on the bare floor and depend on the generosity of others to feed.  People who looked as though they had lost not only material things but also hope!  WHO IS A HOMELESS PERSON ? A Homeless person (also known as a Rough-sleeper) can be seen to be someone who for one reason or the other have lost his/her place of comfort, e.g their family, rooms, or personal space, etc; due to addictions issues, relationship breakdown, mental health breakdown other reasons.  One of my first experiences witnessed this young woman on a train. It’s almost three months now since I shared his story with you all. And the past three months has recorded an enormous recovery for Chibuike. Remember the kid who had a distressing eye condition which resulted from particles of bottles which splashed into his eyes while he was running an errand, yeah that’s him!  click here to read So after removal of the bottles particles in Chibuike’s left eye, doctors reported that the injury left a major scar which may not permit it to function as the right eye. It’s A Shame!

  The first time someone used this phrase with me, I wasn’t sure what she meant. In Nigeria, people say “it’s a shame” when they imply that someone has done something shameful or disgraceful.  But in England, it’s not exactly so.  So one day I was unable to make an appointment because I wasn’t feeling well enough, and when I called to inform my British colleague of this disappointment, she replied “Oh dear, it’s a shame”, and I’m like “Shame? Shame on who”? I wasn’t exactly sure how to react, but it absolutely didn’t go down well with me because of my preexisting understanding of the phrase. On more than one occasion, I was on a chat with someone and I expressed my disappointment about the rain which has disrupted my plans for the day, and the response from this person was “It’s a shame”. Internship 2021

As one of my 2021 highlights , my master's degree course (Media Practice for Development & Social Change) at The University of Sussex offered me the opportunity to undertake an internship as part of my course. And fortunately, I had my internship at The Winch  working as a Documentary Filmmaker & Youthworker. The experience was not only valuable it was also memorable.  The word Winch has different meanings in different climes. In English, it means " a machine that lifts heavy objects" . In Scottish, it means " Kissing with tongues". And in Nigerian slang, it has the same meaning as "WITCH". And being a Nigerian, I found it quite awkward identifying with the name, I would laugh a few times whenever I told my folks from Nigeria the name of my Placement organization, but as time went on I settled in. It is better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it. Because you can find summer, winter, and autumn, in one day; There’s nothing as unpredictable as a BRITISH WEATHER! Becoming A Next Generation Leader

Few months ago, I was Guest speaker at two    events, one with the theme “Becoming The Next Generation Leader”; whilst the other was “Becoming an Equipped Lady”. And some of the key points I shared include: 1. A leader is someone who is able to IDENTIFY AND KEY INTO OPPORTUNITIES . And in order to do this as a young person, you should first : (a) know who you are,    and  (b) Know what do you want. And knowing what you want involves the second point, which is : 2.
